The Arizona Wedding Reception Band Sold CDs

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

The Arizona wedding reception band that played at my friend’s wedding, sold copies of their CD’s in the lobby of the reception hall. I thought that it was kind of tacky but then learned from my friend that they cut the price of their performance in half, if you let them sell the CD’s. I guess that it makes sense and they were selling tons of them.

I think that if I hired an Arizona wedding reception band to play at my wedding, I would just want them playing and not promoting themselves unless they just handed out business cards to interested guests only.

This wedding reminds me of a night club that I used to go to, there was this Phoenix dance band that would set up a table right by the stage and sell their cassette tapes. Of course, this was about twenty years ago and so was I. I did not buy a cassette from the Phoenix dance band but now wish that I had, they were really good. The band at the reception was almost as good, but the lead singer of the dance band was much better looking and for some reason, good looking singers can just make the music sound better.

The Girls Are Getting Footie Pajamas For Their Birthday

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

My sister in law asked me what my daughters wanted for their birthdays and I told her that for some reason they have been asking me for footie pajamas. I am not quite sure where this came from but it might have something to do with the sleepover that they both attended last month. It is very cold in the winter, where we live, and I am guessing that maybe a few of the other girls at the party had on some girls pajamas with feet in them.

I told my sister about a few websites that I had found that sell girls pajamas that have feet in them and that are really cute. I had been planning on getting them some for Christmas but now that my sister is offering, that is one less thing to worry about.

My girls also asked about MP3 players for their birthday, so that is what I am looking to get them. I ordered them already and they should be in early next week. I got a pink one and a lime green one since those are their two favorite colors. I hope that they are the hit of the gifts, along with the cool footie pajamas.

Food Service Supplies Sales Are Down

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

My food service supplies store has been hurting, due to the economy. I used to be the number one supplier of all food service supplies in town, but I think that either there are not that many catering jobs out there, or everyone has found someone much cheaper. I do know of several catering houses in the area who told me that their Christmas party schedule for this last year was really low. Companies just cannot afford to pay for those big elaborate parties and are opting to do away with them.

My partner has told me that he thinks we should start to offer additional things like cleaning supplies and maybe that would help with the sales. Everyone needs cleaning supplies and that is not something that you can skimp on or do away with. If I can find a good vendor to get them from, then I am going to seriously consider doing that. I will have to advertise a lot to let everyone in town know that we are offering additional products, so the initial cost might be a little high when you add in the marketing costs.

Offering food service supplies and cleaning supplies sounds like a good idea and even the smallest catering companies have to clean their kitchens, offices and cookware.

Helping My Parents Set Up Term Life Insurance

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Helping my parents set up a no medical term life insurance policy got me thinking that they should have done this a long time ago. According to my father, it was not as easy to set up any insurance policy as it is today. You used to have to rely on your insurance agent to do all the work and computers were not invented back then. Things were apparently simpler, but simpler did not mean that it was all that easy to understand for the normal Joe.

My mother told me that she had requested term life insurance rates several times from their agent and every time, it took him two to three weeks to get them to them. After receiving the term life insurance rates, they would then have to sit down and try and make sense of all the legal terms. It just seemed so confusing and not knowing what you are paying for, is just not something that most people would be comfortable doing.

So, when my parents found out that they could set up no medical term life insurance policies online and all the legal mumbo jumbo was spelled out in normal human terms, they were excited to do it. They still wanted me to look everything over but it was all legitimate.
